How do I study for tests and quizzes:
STUDY METHOD MADNESS!
· Review
Read over your vocabulary definitions. If you have a definition written down, that doesn’t seem to go along with what we have been studying, check with a friend or your teacher. You should have the CORRECT definitions to study.
· Recall
Look at your words and cover the definitions. Use what you have learned recently and notes to come up with your own definition. Write your definition on loose leaf and check it with the correct definition in your notebook. If your definition matches closely, ROCK ON! If your definition is off, then keep REVIEWING!
· Recite
Ask a friend, parent, or sibling to quiz you! There are two ways to RECITE.
1. Ask your partner to read you the definition and you tell the corresponding word.
2. Ask your partner to say the word, and you tell them the definition and EVERYTHING YOU KNOW about that term. For example: If my partner says Exposition, I would say, “The first stage of plot. In this part of the story, the reader learns the character and the setting. The setting is where and when the story takes place.” ~ This really shows what I know!
· Handle the Handouts- or Google Classroom "Handouts"
You have received many handouts throughout the unit. Some were for practice, some were graded, some are in the Google Classroom. Go through your handouts, review each hand out and ensure that you understand the content on each page.
· KNOW your Knowtebook (Digital or Paper NOTEBOOK)
If your teacher took the time to have you add it to your notebook, then IT IS IMPORTANT. You should review every page of your notebook by reading the page, silently or aloud. Then, cover the page, and trying to remember everything listed on the page.
· Complete Review Homework
Usually, your teacher will provide you with a review homework the day before the test. Take your time to complete the review sheet. Make sure that you use your resources when completing the review sheet to ensure you are studying the CORRECT information.
· Revisit GOOGLE - any forms we did during the unit will be helpful study tools.
